EMC Co-Founder, Tony Burdett, Dies
Anthony (Tony) Carr Burdett passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side, holding his hands, on December 3, 2015, after a courageous battle with cancer. Tony developed a love of travel from a very young age, when he visited many parts of North America with his parents and grandparents. His own business as a manufacturer's representative gave him continuing opportunities to travel. Tony visited every state in the US (he was a co-founder (UT-3) of the Extra Miler Club, where he "collected" counties) and many countries around the world. His love for travel shaped a second career as a travel writer. He was also a tour guide in Salt Lake and surrounding areas, where he could share his knowledge and love of Utah and other places he'd visited with people from all over the world. He was a member of the Utah Tour Guide Association, and served as president for 2 years. Tony's hobby collecting license plates began as a child. His collection eventually grew to over 44,000 plates. He was one of the original members of the American License Plate Collectors Association.
The family suggests donations to the Grand Teton National Park Foundation (www.gtnpf.org). GTNP was one of his favorite places in the world, and Tony and his family vacationed there every year. Online condolences can be entered at www.evans-earlymortuary.com.
